I wish I could be like you guys. Like for example I care too much about (but I wish I didn't) my hair, clothes, how I look, dress, act, laugh, silly stuff like that. I don't know why, cuz inside I always just wanna let loose and not care if people don't think I'm the coolest. So why do I care so much and how can I just forget about what others think?I really need a word of advice from the kind of people who don't care what others think about them?
Think of it this way
Suppose you were in your town walking along a street and a bunch of guys drove by and some stuck thier heads out the window and screamed, ';Hey, You are a Tree';.
Do you really think you would be a tree?
Do you think you would become one?
Now we go a little deeper
Suppose they Really Really Really did indeed think that you really were a tree.....
Do you really think you would be a tree?
Do you think you would become one?
Who is it that you would think is having the problem ? You because you dont obey and become a tree?
Or them?
A while back there was a singer Ricky Nelson put on a performance in NYC
after he got boooooed for doing his own songs he made up a new song
inspired by Rick's experience at a Madison Square Garden concert
Words and Music by Rick Nelson
I went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories and play our songs again
When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
No one recognized me, I didn't look the same
But it's all right now, I learned my lesson well.
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself
People came from miles around, everyone was there
Yoko brought her walrus, there was magic in the air
'n' over in the corner, much to my surprise
Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan's shoes wearing his disguise
lott-in-dah-dah-dah, lot-in-dah-dah-dah
Played them all the old songs, thought that's why they came
No one heard the music, we didn't look the same
I said hello to ';Mary Lou';, she belongs to me
When I sang a song about a honky-tonk, it was time to leave
lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah)
lot-in-dah-dah-dah
Someone opened up a closet door and out stepped Johnny B. Goode
Playing guitar like a-ringin' a bell and lookin' like he should
If you gotta play at garden parties, I wish you a lotta luck
But if memories were all I sang, I rather drive a truck
lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah)
lot-in-dah-dah-dah
'n' it's all right now, learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so you got to please yourselfI really need a word of advice from the kind of people who don't care what others think about them?
Because caring so much about what they think will NEVER change they way they think. You cannot control other peoples thoughts or feelings about you no matter what you do.
Just be yourself. The friends you make will be more genuine.
it's to do with confidence... and not wanting to conform...
u have to make a conscious effort to act or dress in a non-popular manner...
u'll know who ur real friends are after u've done that..
as you get older you get more 'balls'; years ago l wouldnt have dared speak my mind as much as l do now, l am also at the stage as if they dont like it l dont give a ****, people do it to me and dont care so why should l, years ago l wouldnt go to the shop in my tracksuit with messy hair now, who cares, l am too busy to care if people dont like it
You may not like this answer but I'm gonna say it anyway, your not happy within yourself which makes you want to always look perfect on the outside. I went through the same thing and until you except yourself for who you are it will always be that way.
Even people who don't care what others think care what someone thinks!
That might sound a bit mixed up, but what I mean is, we all care what our friends and family think about us. Everyone wants to be loved and accepted, and everyone wants to have people in their lives who are comfortable and welcoming to be around.
From your question, I wonder if your are a teen or young person?
If you are ~ there's good news, and bad news.
The bad news is, it's hard for teens and young people to feel really comfortable. It's a stage when the body sends mixed signals, and the person is also going through a clash of knowledge!
Everything you learned as a child seems a bit irrelevant, but being a full time adult is hard.
The good news is, unless you are very unfortunate indeed, you already have people who think well of you, and maybe even want to be just like you!
Your parents probably love and care about you, you have friends who want to do their hair like yours and borrow your shoes cause they're so cute. Your kid sister wants to be just like you and your kid brother wants you to brring more friends over because they think HE is cute!
At the moment this might not seem like much, compared to the millions of people who love Paris Hilton or cried when Princess Diana died, but as time goes by you'll care less and less what those millions of people think and more and more what your family and friends are doing, how their lives are going and how you can help make it all work for them.
It's part of the process of growing more mature ~ we come to like ourselves more, feel more comfortable in our own skins and be happy to be us, instead of some celebrity who can never seem to find happiness despite all her fans.
It's not that we don't care what people think of us, it's just that we don't care whay people who don't MATTER to us think!
That's the good news :-)
Best wishes :-)
I see your problem, because you don't want to ruin your rep. right now. Right? I kind of gave up on being popular, because i didn't have all the ';criteria';. I was too short, didn't have ENOUGH clothes, stuff like that, that i couldn't change. So if you find some friends that don't care about that stuff either, like i did, you will find your true colors and really show yourself to the world (in a good way :D). Try dressing a little different than u usually do, cause it makes you act different if you feel different. hope i helped @*^*@
You know what I think? I think most ppl are just like you....but they dont let it get to them so much, for me I know that I am a unique person, and it just really doest matter what anyone else thinks about it, I live my life and everyone else lives there. Just try not to think about what everyone else thinks, and just live your life your own way. Good luck!!!
Just be yourself. It not that people don't care what people think just don't take it to heart so much. It is not a crime to have a big heart. You should be alright. Like they say in one ear out the other. Good Luck.
