hey everyone, i am going in tonight at midnight to be induced.
this is my first baby so i am kinda naive on what to expect.
if you could tell me anything, what would it be?
whether it be about getting induced, labor, what to do to relax, what to expect...just anything.
what advice would you like to give me?
what do you wish you would have been told before you went in to be induced or before the big day came?
:D
thanks.Going in to be induced tonight, any last words of advice?
get an epidural! it was the best part of my pregnancyGoing in to be induced tonight, any last words of advice?
I would tell you to EAT before you get there, relax, and get the epidural!! I just had my first seven weeks ago, and was induced also, but everything went by so quickly, I didn't have much time to think about much! I went in at 6 am, was admitted to a room, hooked up to everything, and given the Pitocin drip. From there, it was just waiting and riding out the contractions. At noon, I had the epidural, and by 1:30, the doctor came in to check me, and I was told to start pushing. My daughter was born one hour later - I was extremely lucky! Don't worry about the pain, you do forget the most of it, since so much is going on, and your're concentrating on deliving your beautiful baby! Ask the nurses ANY and ALL questions you have, and if you can, let your baby stay in the nursery for a bit each day, so you can rest up!!!! Also, try to minimize visitors afterwards...you'll want a lot of time with just you and your new baby!! And REST, REST, REST!! Everyone tells you how much you don't sleep once you're home, and it's TRUE!!
Good luck, and CONGRATULATIONS!
I was induced, my labour lasted 23 hours, get as much rest as you can, get something to eat and a nice shower, you will need as much energy as you can get, take some music to listen to, the good thing about being induced is it is so controlled, so if you are wanting an epidural request one as early as you can, as the contractions just come on strong, without much warning, you will be fine and will soon be meeting your new baby - Goodluck :)
I was induced with Pitocin. That was at 7:36am. Within 30 minutes I had contractions that were 2 minutes apart. Not much later they were 60seconds apart lasting 60 sec. I got an epidural at 4cm and within an hour and half he was born. Only 15 minutes of pushing! Overall it was 5 1/2hrs. Oh and he weighed 8lbs9oz too. I STRONGLY suggest the epidural. Those contractions were really intense BUT it was the MOST BEAUTIFUL experience ever! I am super jealous right now. My son is 7 months old and I MISS that day he was born. It was great! I'm very excited for you!
I wish I would have recorded my labor and delivery. Some people say no way but think about it. Your not going to be showing the neighbors or anything but you will never see the birth of this baby again. Also if everything is ok ask the doctor if you can pull the baby out after you get the head and shoulders out. Another thing take LOTS of pictures! They grow so fast and change so much!
Just relax, enjoy the moment, and keep thinking about the moment you finally get to lay eyes on your little one! That's what kept me going. I was induced and went through 21 hours of labor, only to get a C-Section at the end because I still was not dilating. But through it all, I just kept thinking about my daughter and how much I wanted her out here with me lol. Good luck and congrats!
Eat a big meal before you go. Take your phone, camera and chargers. Bring some comfy clothes to wear after. Make sure you take the clothes you want your baby to wear n a take blankets for the baby those hospital ones suck. Make sure you have the father or somebody there to support you. TAKE the pain meds they offer you. You will remember the day for the rest of your life. It's the best feeling ever.
Try not to be nervous, even though it's very hard. I recommend getting an epidural so that you may enjoy it a little. You will remember this day for the rest of your life, may as well be with as less pain as possible.
P.S. I'm totally jealous......I want to meet my baby. I have a loooong time! :)
GOOD LUCK
just get all lot of sleep. thats what i did. and i was in labor for 14hrs and pushed her out in ten min. the dr said that was the fastest i ever seen someone get a baby out. i guess it was from me sleeping all night and all day! good luck! and congrats!
Camera charger, cell phone charger, phone list. Comfy clothes for after, NOT pre-pregnancy clothes. Your own tissues, the hospital ones feel like shingles!
Get the epidural!
Good luck!
Eat BEFORE you go. You will most likely be stuck on a clear liquids diet for several hours after delivery. And get an epidural, it helps.
make sure you eat a good meal before going to the hospital. If they are giving you Pitocin be prepared for some INTENSE contractions! Best of luck to you - - Congrats!
OOHHHHH your so lucky !!! this is my first so i have no advice but to enjoy that beautiful moment!!!! Good luck!!!
I wish you %26amp; the baby the best!
REST! LOL! I really wish someone would have said to me...';Look this is like running a marathon, rest in the beginning so when the end comes you are not tired and out of energy.'; I would have rested as much as possible if I would have known my labor was going to be 19 hours long, I was far too anxious and just couldn't get myself to rest, i was constantly up doing something instead of napping or relaxing in bed like I should have been! So rest up in the beginning as the end (pushing) takes a ton of energy! Good luck!
Like another said, eat well before you go and drink something as well...once they start induction you aren't permitted to eat or drink (just in case a c-section is needed, you have to have an empty stomach for surgery) and you will need the stamina to get through labor. You will get ice chips to wet your mouth and that's it! I would also recommend talking with your nurse before induction starts about your pain relief options and how you want that handled. With my induction with my son, I asked the nurse what my options were so I would know and not just panic and ask for an epidural...I flat out let the nurse know I didn't want to be offered ANY type of medication, that my husband or I would ask if needed. I didn't want to take something just because someone else thought I needed it, but because I thought I needed it. I had a stadol injection half way through and found it gave me just enough relief to rest in between contractions. Otherwise, good luck and congrats!!
