Yes, I'm scared to death! lol I hate Pap Smears - never mind this! Can anyone offer some support, I desperately need some! :)Going for an HSG tomorrow morning - any words of advice!?!?
So, good luck, it is not that bad, the cramping is bad, I took pain killers after, I also didn't take the time off work, which I hope you did, and two days...I bled for a few days, after you feel better, start having sex.
My advice, would be to bring some pads...after the dye will flow out of you for a little while, like a period. IF you don't the hospital will give you a mattress (pad). They are sooo big a horrible to wear. Good luck!
I hope that all goes well.

I am totally inexperience in this but like to wish you good luck and am sure the doctors and nurses will take good care of you : )
My worse experience was the wisdom teeth - 2 at the same time - painful, tedious process for my case, which I am not going into the details. The experience left me on pain-killer round the clock for 3 days. May be for some people, the dental chair is no big deal, but it is the most uncomfortable thing and making me feeling absolutely vulnerable. Despite all the fear and discomfort, I know it was a sane thing that I had to go through it.
I think communicate with the nurses. I did that, so they guided me through the process step by step, and gave me time to prepare myself mentally before they finally started the complicated process.
It may not be easy, but really tell yourself to stay calm, relax. I tried that. I tried not to fight against the nurses/dentist and trust them - I think it helped made the process more bearable and soon (though it felt long) it was over.
Cookie-on-my-mind, have faith and trust - TAKE CARE!
Hope sharing my other yucky experience can help a little.
Okay, I recently had an HSG and its not what you are worrying yourself about. The only thing the doctor will do is ask you if you took some pain medication because some women complain of having mild cramps afterwards. Than he will insert an catheter into your urethra and shoot the dye in. Than he will take pictures of your fallopian tubes and ovaries since the purpose of an HSG is to see if your tubes are open and that's it. If he can see the dye afterwards your tubes are open, if not the are closed. To tell you the truth it didn't bother me nor did I get cramps.
Take some motrin before you go!
stay calm but good luck
everyone reacts to them differently. i had one and it didn't hurt at all. it really didn't feel any different than a pap. but not all women react the same. the best thing to do is try to relax. some dr's will give you a mild sedative. you can ask your dr if he can give you one. i have heard some ladies say they took a ';valyum';
