I am getting my first cell phone. Any words of advice?

Please don't spend too much time on your cell phone unnecessarily. Use it only for emergencies. It may have a link to brain tumours. My boss just discovered he has a brain tumour. He spend hours chatting on it for business. I have stopped using cellphones. I first used a phone in 1990 and have gone through 8 phones. However, after hearing all those cancer stories, I only use them for emergencies only.

Don't think it is cool chatting on it like some silly teen, its not.I am getting my first cell phone. Any words of advice?
start off with a pay as you go phone. then you wont get into debt and you will realise just how expensive they can be! good luck with it. i couldnt live without my mobile (cellphone) nowI am getting my first cell phone. Any words of advice?
Get a belt-clip/holster because of the radiation to your body always keep the phone away from your body i.e headset. Get a good service with a good rep. In the Us go with Verizon or T-Mobile. Make sure your friends also carry the same service as you-trust me you save like 500 minutes by using mobile-mobile feature. Get reviews on the phone itself which shouldn't matter much just stick to a good plan.
nope . . . i don't have one
use the ';National free incoming 300'; plan from Nextel

I get:

300 anytime min

free incoming calls

free long distance

unlimited night and weekends

and unlimited direct connect

The plan is $39.99 a month (tax not included).I am a heavy talker and that plan is perfect for me cause I talk 6000 cell min. and 90 direct connect min. a month and I never get charged extra.
Just be casual and don't be a pain in the *** for those customer service.Read the manual and think of what feauture you want.
RAZR V3 with T-mobile--cingular sucks
Don't go aver you minutes cause then they'll take the phone away from you. Also go with T-mobile cause alot of people have that phone brand
Estimate the number of minutes you will use, but go with a low estimate and get the cheapest plan that you think might fit you. They will always let you upgrade but you usually can't downgrade after signing.

Also, consider dropping your land line phone and only using the cell phone. This can save you a lot of money.
I'd say leave it turned off and keep it charged. Use it only in emergencies.
Watch your minutes
slave
go with T-mobile
dont use it when it is kept for charging as it can give u an electric shock.
hang up and drive
