All of my programs are trying to open as word documents any advice?

Recently I tried opening a program I was having difficulty with as a word document. I must have changed a setting because now all of my programs are trying to open in word. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this problem?All of my programs are trying to open as word documents any advice?
You've probably assigned Word as the file opener for the .exe file type. Microsoft has a link that identifies how to fix that in Windows Vista. It might also work for Windows XP.

When you opened the file with word you left a check mark in the ';always use the selected program to open this kind of file';. After that it will always use word until you change it.





Right click ';Start'; button. Click ';explore';, Once explorer opens click ';Tools';, ';Folder Options';, then click ';File Types';.


Find .jpg or whatever extension you want to change, click it and click ';change';. Then select the program you want to use to open it with.


Make sure you have a check mark in ';always use the selected program to open this kind of file';


You can just go through the list of extensions and select programs to open each one with.
