Her MOS is medic.My daughter just joined the Army National Guard. Any words of advice for her?
I recommend she take advantage of all the opportunites she will be given. After she completes her basic training, she will come to Ft. Sam Houston, in San Antonio, TX for her AIT. When she completes this, she will be able to take the test in any state for an EMT certificate. I recommend she do this, as it may help in her civilian career also.





While she is in training, tell her to just do her best. Ask questions when she is not sure what they are trying to teach, but do not question when told to do something. Most of the Drill Sergeants are going to do their best to help her pass IF they see she is trying her best.





And also, some advice to you. Make sure she knows you support her decision, and don't make her regret it. You may have argued against it before she did join, but now that she has, support the current status.My daughter just joined the Army National Guard. Any words of advice for her?
Stay away from negative people, take advantage of ALL training, and most of all is to have fun.

Try to stay in the background during basic training. Never volunteer for anything!! If the D.S. knows your name without reading, it's bad..
Just keep your eyes open the first week. After that it's a breeze
Keep low %26amp; move fast.
Don't volunteer for anything! If it was a good deal, someone farther up the chain would have already volunteered.
STAY AWAY FROM THE MEN.
She will be going to Basic Training at either Fort Jackson, SC or Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Whatever the case these few items will be of great assistance.





1) Keep her head low. If you can make it all the way through Basic Training without your Drill Sergeant ever knowing your name you did exceptionally well.





2) Do what they say. Even if you do become subject of a Drill Sergeant's attention just do what they ask when they ask. If you do follow this advice the Drill Sergeant will move onto someone else more deserving of their ';Special Attention';.





3) Never volunteer for anything. As crass as it sounds this is one world of advice the holds true in Basic Training as well as the regular army. When I was getting ready for Basic Training my father and uncle (And pretty much everyone else I knew who had been in the military) on seperate occasions offered this advice. Their advice has proven exceptionally true. NO GOOD CAN COME OF VOLUNTEERING.
Tell her to try her darndest to stay away from the border.
Make the best of what she is offered, I am proud of her and I wish to thank her for joining to do her part in keeping the world safe.
just be carefull.
Make sure that she contacts civilian authorities if she is raped by men in her unit.





Tell her to keep an eye on ANYTHING she is drinking, since the date rape drug is rampant in the military.





Hopefully she will be one of the 15% who is NOT assaulted while serving on active duty.
Good luck... use your talent to heal body mind and spirit. Pray everyday for yourself, your family, other soldiers and the enemy. Be thankful of everything you have.

I'm a former 11B4X Infantry Drill Sergeant. Just tell her ';to Pay Attention to Detail, Follow Instructions and do her best plus 10, keep her stuff squared away and she'll do just fine.
