Please help words of advice...I can not stop stealing things?

Something is missing from your life. You might not even want the things you steal, I imagine it is the trhill of stealing and not getting caught that has you addicted.

Let me predict that there are changes happening in your life and some part of you feels 'loss' or 'empty'. Shoplifting can be like drugtaking for the escape it provides.

Here is a tip to help you control your own behaviour.

Go to stores you steal from usually, perhaps to the section you have stolen from before and simply tell yourself you are no longer going to steal (for the best because being procicuted isnt going to make you feel any better).

then simply walk away.

Repeat this process regualrly, it will be VERY difficult not to fall back but over time (10 or so sessions) you will not longer feel the urge to steal.

You will only need to do this if it is a place you will go to in future.

Quite simply you have developed an addiction which needs to be treated.

In the meantime find another interest or get in touch with old friends to occupy your time and help to fill that gap that is missing in your life.

Sorry I cant wave a magic wand but everything worth doing take effort. Please help words of advice...I can not stop stealing things?
Don't go to therapists, all they ever do is make you more crazy!!!

I think you should go to a consoler and talk about your troubles.
You need to see a couselor or a therapist. They help people with tendancies like yours. It is kinda like AA and they need to speak to someone about their drinking and need a support type group. I would find someone who deals with Klepto (sp) and try to help yourself. Your not helping anyone other then yourself. Please go get help. I would look or call United Way. In most states you can just call 2-1-1 and they can point you in the right direction. Hope this helps!!
I think a counselor would help too. I also think it is wise to choose your friends carefully, sometimes it is easy to surround yourself with people who are having problems of their own with moral decisions. If you could get a bit closer to folks who are walking the walk and talking the talk and leading the kind of life you believe you would feel safe and secure in opportunities will arise. I understand the money thing, but the reality is that the reward from knowing that you can hold your head high is not to be underestimated in making your own life better. Good luck Honey.
if you dont stop it'll ruin your life..i HAD a friend that was the same way.his parents didn't care anything about him so one of my other friends family let him move in he even stole off them. so they kicked him out. before long he ended up in prison (armed robbery) for 8 years.. it may be stealing from stores now but if you dont stop , soon itll be from your friends... then you'll have no friends and no one will trust you and that's a sad situation to be in..so please stop and untill you do stay the hell away from me. i cant stand a thief
Get a job, stay out of stores, and if this does not help cut off your hands. No one like a thief, they are probably worse then liars
lol either get a job or stop complaining
The problem starts when you get away with things, if you'd been caught early on there wouldn't be a problem.

Now you recognise that it's a habit that you need to break you're on your way to sorting it out, you'll need advice, but the real work will have to be faced by you, you'll need to take a hard look at why and when you feel the urge to do these things and form a plan of action to break this behaviour.
once you get cought for stilling then you learn that you actually weren't so broke and you could have paid for it instead of taking the risk which was and will never be worth. stealing never makes any one rich or help them to save money instead it gets them addicted to stealing worthless things and ending up getting in trouble for it. :)
find a job !!
ask yourself- do you really need waht youare stealing? likehte clothes- did you really need that new pair of jeans. and if you want, GET A JOB. earn lost of money adn constantly work so you have no time for stealing. once you earn lots, be proud nad buy something. manage your money though. nad keep asking waht you need and what you want.
Carma or karma how ever it's spelled , the long run , is where your problems will show up .

also { WANT } will hound you for ever ,,, IF you are destend to pay 10 times what its worth threw Carma , it's an expensive way to live ,,, I cant afford it . it will keep you broke .
