I am looking at a Troy Bilt and a Cub CadetAny words of advice before I buy a Chipper Shredder VAC. I have over a dozen oak trees w/acorns %26amp; leaves.?
your plan is very sound ! troy bilt are awesome machines . leaves do compact very badly if you don't stay on top of them. but one way around it is to simply run the mower over them first if scedules or fall rains catch you. and please do take those leaves and compost them for next year ! leaves have so many trace nutriens that grass can't give you . a simple wire ring is all you need . plus they are almost invisible in the landscape .

Yeah wait for next year
We have a TroyBile chipper/shredder. I'd never buy such a piece of equipment again. Ours certainly does not perform the way they are shown in the commercials, and I've never seen one that has done so.
As for oak leaves, they don't compact well, and they contain a LOT of tanic acids. Not good for much.
I would sell the wood- do you know how much you could get for oak wood??? lots! and if you have a burl on it it would go for tons of cash. I would advertize that you want to sell the wood before you chip it cuz you could make a load of cash
Advertize at serious craft fairs or go to stores that sell hand made wood bowls or furniture the artists will pay a ton for nice wood
