I'm thinking of getting my tongue pierced, any words of advice?

Eat easy foods and don't drink through straws for a while.

Oh man, no one told me not to drink through a straw when I had mine done. My first meal afterward was a slimfast shake....through a straw. Talk about pain!

Oh and make sure to clean it with a nonalcoholic mouth wash after eating and drinking anything that isn't water....or kissing.I'm thinking of getting my tongue pierced, any words of advice?
Prepare yourself for starvation and quietness for 3-4 days. Seriously. You won't be able to eat anything solid or speak properly.I'm thinking of getting my tongue pierced, any words of advice?
yeth, enthoy your thoup. lmao :)
don't go to a festival and drink your self silly and eat pot noodles the day you get it and days after!
Have a big meal b4 as you wont be able to eat anythying solid for few days after. Dont try eating MCdonalds chips 30minutes later like I did!

Wear plastic or softer studs on the bar as its habit to chew on your tongue bar when its healed and as a result you end up chipping your teeth.

Do up all tongue fixtures tight Ive lost track of the amount of balls AND bars ive swallowed.

Overalll the actual procedure isnt painful its just the discomfort for a few days after that youve got to deal with.

Good luck
My sister just did hers, and it hurts, a lot. hah. It hurts the first day, then it gets worse for two more days and then it starts to get better. She had no problem talking, it just hurt to talk normal the first couple days. My advice would be, be prepared for what you are doing and otherwise you should be fine!
Don't do it. Your tongue is the most germ filled place on your body. Not to mention it looks trashy and jobs won't take you seriously.
I had mine done years ago...it doesnt hurt..Go to a reputable body piercing place thats been trading for ages..Best bit of advice i can give you is to take anti-inflamitories( ibuprofen or similar) for about 3 days before you have it done and for a week after..They will stop your tongue swelling up..All you have to do to look after it is to use a good anti bacterial mouth wash(alcohol based)..All this stuff about only eating soup n soft foods is a load of shite..Remember you mouth is ful of saliva which is full of enzymes which breakdown food naturally and its antiseptic too...Getting a tongue piercing is no big deal and should you have any problems n you wanna take it out it will heal up in days..
I had my tongue done a couple of months ago and I'm fine with it now but they are some bad point. First of all when you have it done it they numb your tongue and you swallow a tiny bit of the numbing stuff then your tongue will feel really uncomfortable. But after wards I wasn't in pain at all, it is just awkward I advise after having it done to suck on ice cubes, but when it comes to eating I was eating normal foods within three hours of having it done, I had a Chinese meal but it did take me nearly double the time than usual to eat it mind.

But I really would suggest having it done if it is something that you really want doing. Yeah some people will say it's ';common'; and ';disgusting'; but who cares what they think because it is your body :)

Also another pointer, lots of people who I have talked to have told me about how their tongues bled and wouldn't stop... mine did it too, but whilst examining it in the mirror I found that it was just a tiny clot of blood that had built up. So it was nothing to worry about.

Anyway I know this is long and goes on a bit, but before I had mine done no-one told me any of this and if I knew this then it would have really helped. So I hope it helps you and if you have any more questions just ask away :) x
Don't, it looks awful, it damages your teeth, it's had it's day.
yes dont do it
